Everest Base Camp Trekking Day 01 - Lukla to Phakding

After waiting for half a day before to fly...even with full effort and help by our tour guide, Tandi Sherpa we still couldn't get any early flight to Lukla. We decided to take two helicopters to Lukla Airport. We can't afford to wait for another day and have to shorten the trekking days. It's quite a nervous experience since this going to be my first helicopter ride...

'Air Dynasty' now everyone can fly.. :P

Wait..!!! I know that pilot....that's the same person selling the helicopter ticket just now..!!! wtf..seriously??

Looks like contours in a map book...

About 45 minutes later we reached at the most dangerous airport in the world..the Tenzing-Hillary Airport also known as Lukla Airport..it's a small airport..the runaway length is only 500 meter..! ok..lucky us..we took the chopper.. :P ...there are history of several incidents and accidents happened here...I shall not elaborate furthermore..apart from the brief explanation about the airport, guess what...Hamdan lost his bag again..!!!

Tenzing-Hillary Airport.

Lukla (2840 m) is the place where most people start the climb to the Mount Everest Base Camp and the other Himalayan base camps and peaks.

Tara Lodge, our first rendezvous point before start trekking.

Behind: our personal porter, Dorje Sherpa.

Around 11:45 am we start hiking down to Phakding (2610 m)...this is where we start to take the "climb-high, sleep-low" approach. It's never too soon to do this..you will never know. Prevention is a hell lot better than cure. The view of the mountains (the locals still consider it 'hill') here was breathtaking. Wow, it's just the first day...

We took a break for lunch one of the tea house somewhere in the middle between Lukla and Phakding. I ordered garlic soup and mixed fried rice..o yea...

At 3:45 pm Nepal time..personal history has been made..I have crossed one of the scariest suspension bridges..(ok..I'm a bit exaggerated...hell yea..I am scared of heights!)..the Thado Khoshi Khola Bridge. (Bridge No. 01)

 Thado Khoshi Khola Bridge..hooooooly sh*t...!

I have made it..!!! ok..one down, few more to go...sheeesshhhh....

No..no..he didn't fell from the bridge..he's way too drunk and passed out at the steps.

We reached Phakding around 5:45 pm (5 hours trekking + 1 hour lunch) and put a night at Tibet Guest House & Restaurant. Phakding is a small village in the Khumbu region of Nepal. It lies in the Dudh Kosi river valley just north of Lukla and south of Monjo; one of the UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979.
